Practical Drawing for Craftspeople

In this drawing class, Guild member & artist Kacey Ziegler will share her secrets and train you to draw objects confidently. You’ll never utter “I can’t even draw stick figures” again! No prior drawing experience necessary; this class will start from scratch and focus on the skills that best support object-making and creative ideation. We will delve into drawing from observation, imagination, and reference as well as ways to combine all three to make your woodworking better. You will come away with a bound sketchbook, a couple good drawing pens, and a confident baseline for developing your own drawing skills to meet practical ends….and beyond!

  • Sunday, October 04, 2026. (10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the shop, 2-4 p.m. at the Toys and Miniature Museum)
• Portion of shop restricted to class use: Classroom

• Maximum Class Size: 8
• Minimum Class Size: 4 (If the minimum class size isn't met, the class will be canceled.)

• • Sketchbooks (Everyone will receive a sketchbook...a travel-friendly size in a mix of colors)
  • Pens
  • Paper
  • Toys & Miniatures Museum ticket
• What to bring: 
• • Just yourself!
  • And a pencil for the miniature museum, but backups will be provided just in case
• What to leave behind:
• • All expectations of how well you SHOULD be able draw at this point in your  life/craft/career/education/corporeal existence

Fees & Payment:

Class fees are based on your Guild membership level at the time you sign up for the class. Payment is required at the time of enrollment.

• Regular / "Sawdust Maker" Guild membership level price: $115
• "Woodworker Plus" / "Benefactor" Guild membership level price (20% discount): $92

Withdrawal Policy: Withdrawals made within seven (7) days of the start of the class will NOT receive a refund.
